Ingredients
Beef cubes- 1 kg
Ginger-garlic paste- 3 teaspoons
Coriander powder- 1-1/2 teaspoons
Kashmiri chilli powder- 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder- 1/2 teaspoon
Pepper powder- 1 teaspoon
Garam masala powder- 1/2 teaspoon
Vinegar- 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves- 1 sprig
Salt to taste
For frying
Crushed shallots- 20
Crushed garlic – 10-12 cloves
Curry leaves- 1 sprig
Coriander powder- 2 teaspoons
Kashmiri chilli powder- 1 teaspoon
Coconut bits- 100 gms
Oil- as required
Method
Mix the beef cubes with salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, garam masala powder, ginger- garlic paste, vinegar and curry leaves. Cook on low heat till the beef is cooked through. Once cooked, add the coconut bits and mix and cook on high heat till all the liquid evaporates.
Heat 4 tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add the curry leaves, followed by crushed shallots and garlic cloves. When the raw smell goes, lower the heat and add the coriander powder and chilli powder. Stir for a few seconds. Add the beef along with coconut bits and mix well. Keep stirring occassionally. If you feel that oil is less, you could drizzle some oil along the sides and mix well. The more you fry, the more dark it will become. Take off heat when it acquires the desired colour. Ideally, it should be fried till it becomes almost black in colour. This could take close to an hour. Serve hot.
