Dal - ½ cup...
Palak - 1 ½ cup
Onion - 1 chopped
Green chillies - 3,4 slit
Garlic - 2,3 cloves
Tomato - 1 chopped
Turmeric powder - ½ tspn
Chilli powder - ½ tsp
Garam masala powder- ¼ tsp
Cumin seeds - ¼ tsp
Lemon juice - 1 tsp ( optional )
Butter/ vegetable oil - 2 tbsp
Pressure cook dal for 2,3 whistles or till done.
Wash, chop palak and keep aside. In a pan add butter/ cooking oil, to this add, cumin seeds followed by chopped onion, garlic and green chillies. Saute well.
Add chopped tomato and cook till mushy. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder and garam masala powder. Mix well.
Add palak, little salt and cook covered for 2,3 minutes. Once palak starts to shrink add cooked dal and mix well till combined. Also add a teaspoon of lemon juice if desired.
Serve hot with rice, roti or chappathi.
