Tapioca cutlet

Tapioca: 1 medium sized
Garlic: 7-10 cloves, chopped
Ginger: 1 small piece, chopped
Green chilly: 2 large, chopped
Pepper powder: 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder: 1 1/4 teaspoons
Garam masala: 2 teaspoons
Onion: 1 large, sliced
Curry leaves: as required
Chopped coconut(optional)
Egg: 1
Bread crumbs
Oil for frying

Method

Cut the tapioca,add salt and boil a little longer. Remove the fibre and mash it without lumps. Keep it aside.
Heat oil in a pan and fry the chopped coconut till it becomes golden brown and keep it aside.
To this oil add chopped garlic and ginger and saute for sometime. Add sliced onions, chopped green chillies and curry leaves. Saute for sometime. Add turmeric powder, pepper powder and garam masala. Saute till the raw taste goes away.
Add this to the mashed tapioca and mix well.
Make small balls from the mixture and make the desired shape after applying a little oil on the palm.
Beat the egg. Vegetarians can mix some cornflour or maida in water and use it instead of egg.
Dip the cutlets in egg/ cornflour mix. Cover it with breadcrumbs.
Heat oil in a frying pan. put the cutlets in the oil and fry till the colour turns golden brown.
Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
