MEEN POLLICHATHU

Ingredients

To marinate the fish

Fish 1 cleaned(Avoli,Aikora,Karimeen)
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder 1tsp
Garlic 1tbs
Ginger 1tbs
Pepper powder 1/2tsp
lemon juice 1tsp
Salt to taste
Grind it to a fine paste and marinate the fish with this paste and keep aside for 30 minutes . Fry marinated fish lightly(not crisp fried)in little oil.

For Masala

Oil 2tbs
Shallots finely chopped 2cup
Tomato finely chopped 2 cup
Ginger chopped 1tbs
Garlic chopped 1tbs
Green chillies chopped 3 nos
Red chilli powder 1 tsp
Coriander powder 1tsp
Turmeric powder 1/4tsp
Coconut milk (thick) 1/4 cup
curry leaves
Salt to taste
Banana leaf

Method
Heat oil in a pan and sauté onions, tomato, ginger, garlic and green chillis. When they are soft add all powders,salt ,curry leaves and mix it well. Add thick coconut milk and let it on fire for 2 minutes until it is thick. Masala is ready now.

Take a banana leaf ,place the fish on the center and apply the gravy well on both sides of the fish. Fold the leaf and make sure out the edges are secure so that the gravy wont fall out. Steam it in a steamer for 10-15 minutes. Yummy and tasty meen pollichathu ready to serve
